Our Mentorship Program
CELDI-Liberia runs a comprehensive mentorship program for underprivileged children and youth from slum communities. This program aligns with the mission of CELDI Liberia—to raise a new generation of servant-leaders who transform their communities through the principles of Christ. It integrates spiritual discipleship with academic excellence, life skills, and leadership development. The core aim is to move underprivileged children and youth from vulnerability to visionary and servant leadership through consistent, Christ-centered relationships.
The program operates on a model that ensures every participant receives the appropriate level of attention and guidance. The program centers on four primary areas of growth, which ensures the "holistic" development of each child.
- Spiritual Foundation (Discipleship)—Developing a personal relationship with Christ, understanding the Word, and practicing spiritual disciplines based on Proverbs 22:6 (Train up a child...) and St. John 10:10 (Abundant life).
- Life Skills & Resilience—Practical skills for independence and survival in urban environments. We offer financial literacy, health/reproductive awareness (safe-space talks), and vocational skills (Tie & Dye, soap making, or basic tech skills).
Summer Camp
CELDI-Liberia Summer Camp is a transformative annual program that empowers underprivileged children and youth from Monrovia's slum communities. Spanning approximately two months, the camp provides a safe, nurturing environment where participants receive daily breakfast and lunch and participate in a curriculum focused on servant leadership, character development, and academic reinforcement. Activities are diverse and engaging, ranging from spiritual devotions and Christian games to competitive events such as spelling bees, debates, and career days.
Beyond the classroom, field trips expose children to experiences beyond their immediate neighborhoods. At the same time, the involvement of high school "Student Mentors" fosters a unique peer-to-peer leadership model. Ultimately, the camp serves as a critical intervention to prevent school dropouts and to build the "Christian scholars" and proactive leaders necessary for Liberia’s future.
Youth & Girls Empowerment
CELDI-Liberia runs a Youth Empowerment Program focused on the holistic development of underprivileged youth (boys and girls) from slum communities, emphasizing education, leadership, mentorship, and skills training. This comprehensive initiative includes a dedicated girls' empowerment component aimed at improving access to education and life skills.
The girls' empowerment program focuses on the holistic development of underprivileged girls, using safe spaces to provide education and awareness on reproductive health, decision-making, and gender rights. The program also equips participants with life skills, including entrepreneurship and vocational training in areas such as sewing, soap-making, pastry, and tie-and-dye. We also offer financial literacy training and microloans to support their startups. This approach aims to break the cycle of poverty and raise a generation of skilled, informed, and confident young women.
The program offers life skills training to increase their economic independence and reduce school drop-out rates, ultimately raising a new generation of servant-leaders to proactively transform their lives, families, and communities.
