A vision trip to Liberia provides the opportunity for one to see, feel, and hear about the needs of our kids, communities, and how God is using CELDI to make the difference in the lives of over 1,600 underprivileged kids and youths in Liberia. On the other hand, a mission trip provides the opportunity for people to serve, experience, and impact our kids and communities in different ways as they may be led by their passion or the Holy Spirit—God.
Will provides current Child Sponsors with the opportunity to meet with their sponsored kids, provides would-be-sponsors and partners the opportunity to meet and interact with kids who are in need of sponsors, reassures families and communities about the love of Christ, and enables gift-sharing fellowship with underprivileged children and youth.
Will enable you to be one of our speakers, a group/team leader in our Youth Summit, participate in summer camps activities as Camp Leader, conduct a Teacher Training Workshops, do a short-term teaching, help paint and/or furnish a classroom at CELDI Academy, and bring construction, educational, or summer camp work-group to Liberia.
About Liberia
Liberia is a land of profound natural beauty and deep historical significance, often described as West Africa's "hidden gem." Its most striking feature is its untouched wilderness, including Sapo National Park, which holds one of the region’s largest primary tropical rainforests and serves as a sanctuary for rare species like the pygmy hippo. Beyond the dense jungle, the coastline offers world-class surf breaks in Robertsport and golden, unspoiled beaches that provide a serene escape from the modern world. This raw, natural landscape is complemented by a burgeoning eco-tourism scene that allows visitors to witness a country rediscovering its place on the global stage.
Culturally, Liberia offers a unique "land of the free" heritage, founded by freed African Americans, which has created a fascinating blend of indigenous traditions and settler history. This rich tapestry is evident in the vibrant local markets of Monrovia, the soulful rhythms of its music, and the legendary hospitality of its people. The culinary scene is equally compelling, featuring beloved staples like spicy jollof rice, fufu, and palm butter soup. As the nation undergoes a modern infrastructure revolution in 2026, it remains a destination for the authentic traveler—one who values genuine human connection and the thrill of exploring one of the few truly "off-the-beaten-path" locations left in the world.
Liberia is a land of profound spiritual openness and resilient joy, making it a unique destination for mission work. As Africa’s oldest republic, it carries a deep historical connection to the quest for freedom, a theme that resonates through its vibrant worship and warm hospitality. A missions team will find a people who are remarkably relational; in Liberian culture, building a connection often takes priority over a strict schedule. This "relational first" mindset creates a natural bridge for the Gospel, as locals are often eager to engage in deep conversations about faith, family, and community over a shared meal of jollof rice or palm butter.
Beyond the urban center of Monrovia, the country is blessed with stunning natural beauty, from lush rainforests to pristine Atlantic coastlines. However, the true "best" of Liberia is the spiritual hunger and the strength of the local church. While Christianity is widespread, there is a significant opportunity to partner with local believers in children and youth development and holistic ministry. Whether through supporting educational initiatives, providing technical skills, or simply standing in solidarity with rural communities, a missions team will discover that while they come to serve, they will likely be even more impacted by the unwavering faith and infectious optimism of their Liberian brothers and sisters. Please make a plan to visit the missions field of Liberia. We look forward to see you, soon.
